If there were a single entity of Earth's roads that needed a name, it
probably were capitalized. I like capitalizing Internet for the same
reason I capitalize Earth or Moon: it is the name of a single entity,
a proper noun. Compare: "tilling the earth", "Io is a moon of Jupiter".
Different meaning, different capitalization.
