It depends. Taking Lessig's "code is law" aphorism too literally can turn
out counterproductive :)

Equally, "becoming a stakeholder just for the sake of it" isn't too
productive either.

Meaningful participation and bridge building like I said.  Which is why I
would like to see more prominence given to Diplo and other organizations
that offer bridge courses that help orient CS to technical issues /
governance, and technical people to CS attitudes, people, issues.. (and even
typical CS verbiage)
