Dear MAG colleagues



The UN Secretary-General’s Roadmap on Digital Cooperation - a follow-up to
last year’s HLPDC recommendations - will be launched in a series of events
beginning this Thursday 11th June.



The Roadmap will be announced tomorrow (Thursday) at a High-level Thematic
Debate of the UN General Assembly. The session is at 14:00-17:00 UTC. This
will be followed by four other launch events (in addition to the Q&A
session during the MAG Open Consultations on 16th June).



I have provided summary details of all five launch events below. Detailed
info can be found in the two attached pdfs, one with the agendas, one with
confirmed speakers for events 2, 3 and 4 as of yesterday. Events 3 and 4
focus on different areas of the Roadmaps and the third column in the table
below indicates when various policy teams might want to particularly be
tuned in.



The events are all virtual, open to the public and will be broadcast on UN

Debate on Impact of technological change on SDGs

Speakers include President of the General Assembly; President of the
Economic and Social Council; UN Secretary General.



2) Thursday 11th, 17:30-19:30 UTC: “State of the Digital World” – Virtual
Side Event

Secretary General expected to provide further remarks on how his Roadmap
should be carried forward by the international community

Speakers include UN Sec-Gen, Presidents of Switzerland and Sierra Leone,
Sir Tim Berners Lee



3) Friday 12th, 13:00-16:00 UTC: Dialogue on Implementation of the Roadmap
part 1

Covering

- Connectivity (13:30)

- Digital Public Goods (13:50)

- Digital Inclusion (14:20)

- Digital Capacity-Building (14:50)

­- Digital Human Rights (15:10)

Speakers include UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, heads of ITU and
UNICEF, Ministers from Norway and Sierra Leone



4) Monday 15th, 13:00-16:00 UTC, Dialogue on Implementation of the Roadmap
part 2

Covering

- AI (13:30)

- Digital Cooperation (14:00)

- Trust & Security (14:40)

Speakers include Ministers from France, Singapore and Finland, heads of UN
Office of Disarmament and UNEP



5) Weds 17th, 14:00-15:00 UTC: Fireside chat: Our digital future – UN
Vision With Under-Secretary General Fabrizio Hochschild, Special Adviser to
the Secretary-General
