[governance] IGC workshop proposal for the IGF2017: Speakers needed!

Hi all

Arséne thanks for voicing out that you are trying to get gender
balance on your workshop, that's great.

However, instead of just trying to find a speaker by gender, I would
advise you and everyone in the same situation to think a little bit
out of the box and reach out to the wonderful groups which dedicate
themselves to the issue of gender and tech.
These groups already do exist because many of the women who volunteer
for opportunities like this end up being rejected.
So why not be proactive and seek the groups out and ask them to send
in nominations?

While we're at it, I'd also point out that men can participate in
gender and technology groups too. In fact, you're most welcome to seek
out the experts there.

IGF, ultimately, has also a list of resource persons you'll be able to
draw upon later to complete your speaker line-up.
https://www.intgovforum.org/multilingual/resource-persons

Folks who work hard on community management, like Arsene, can perhaps
cross check the resource person list w/ the members email database
(IGC's is only viewable to admin). That can help you find a
speaker/resource person from IGC.

And those who want to be a speaker/ resource person
http://www.intgovforum.org/multilingual/content/resource-persons

These are just general suggestions

And thanks Sala for giving advice to proposers, wisely said

Best,

Renata
