In the new IANA tendering process, I am completely unable to see the 'big step forward' that Wolfgang sees. In fact, by perpetuating the untenable and inappropriate situation when the end of the present contract with ICANN presented an opportunity, it is a big step backwards.

Wolfgang:
If you read the mail you will discover that it was Nelly Kroes who said that the NTIA announcement is 
a "big step forward". In the same statement Kroes also supported the "multistakehooder philosohphy". I refered to this statement and said that for Madame Kroes such a comitment to a "multistakeholder philosophy" is another "big step forward".
 
Lets wait and see what the call for a IANA contract will produce. Too early to make any statement now.
