Day 2 of CSTD featured two half day panels on-

1. "Mobile Technology, Convergence and Social Networking Tools for
Development and Poverty Eradication" and
2."Delivering innovation in global public health"

in the form of "Follow-up to the World Summit on the Information
Society: Joint CSTD-ITU-GAID panel discussion"

The second panel was quite different from 'usual' panels on ICTD - most
of the panelists and presenters were public health professionals and the
moderator (Dr. Michael St. Louis, Chief Science Officer for Global
Health, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) set the tone for the
discussions, by explicitly asking that participants look at the issues
in public health and then see what role ICTs could play, instead of the
other way around (which is to look at the powers of ICTs to decide how
that could solve issues in health!), and the discussions including a
couple of good presentations from WHO (Dr. Najeeb Mohamed Al Shorbaji)
and Dr. Ramesh Krishnamurthy, Center for Disease Control and Prevention.
