[Governance] Open letters for sign-on: HLAB on AI and Summit for the Future ministerial modalities

Dear all,

Please find below two letters that are open for sign-on, drafted by civil
society groups that are included in the existing list of sign-ons (the
first four groups). If you would like to lend your support, please either
respond directly to this email or add your organisation's name to the
documents directly. Please do so by *COB Friday 25 August.*

   - *Summit for the Future ministerial modalities:* this is about civil
   society participation in the Ministerial Meeting of the Summit of the
   Future

   and is addressed to the summit co-facilitators (Germany & Namibia). The
   statement expresses concerns regarding the lack of information about the
   mechanisms for participation of non-governmental stakeholders, and provides
   a set of recommended actions for moving forward.

   - *HLAB on Artificial Intelligence*: this focuses on the high-level
   Advisory Body on Artificial Intelligence

   and is addressed to the UN Tech Envoy’s Office/Ambassador Gil. It expresses
   CSO concerns regarding the public call for nominations and notes two main
   concerns: (1) the timeframe for nominations and (2) the lack of information
   regarding the criteria and process for selecting nominees. The statement
   concludes with a set of recommendations to ensure a more OIT process, with
   a particular focus on ensuring civil society participation.
