My condolences to Ian's  family..May he rest in peace.
I will remember him for his kind guidance and wisdom for all ... He gave a lot to WSIS ....

So sorry to hear of the passing of Ian Peter. 

We never met in person but I worked with him closely a couple of years ago as part of the IG Civil Society Coordination Group that he co chaired a while ago. 

I led two CSCG NomComs selecting CS nominees for the IGF MAG and he was a great support for those processes.

May he rest in peace!

My dear friends and colleagues - our friend, collaborator and mentor Ian Peter passed away peacefully last night. His wife, Sue, was with him as she had been these past few weeks. Ian reached out to Paul Wilson and me three weeks ago, telling us that he has but a few weeks left in him. Paul got to speak to him Friday week ago and Ian and I via emails and messages Sue shared with him. She described Ian as a man who was led by love, and the past few weeks he did just that. But he did ask at that time that we not share his condition widely. Today, however, Sue asked that I share this sad news with you. Ian Peter was my friend.

Ian Peter in the centre, Southeast Forest Rally, Canberra, 1989 (?) and I with a cap on sat just behind him. The words "email", "electronic networks", "earthnet" I'd heard in passing. I knew that moment that this was Ian Peter who some weeks ago I'd sent my first email to.  Some months later Pegasus Networks was launched. A year later I moved to Byron Bay to work with Ian... and here we are.
