Dear colleagues,
It is a great pleasure to announce that the first CPDP LatAm (the Latin American edition of the Computers, Privacy and Data Protection conference), will take place this week from 14 to 16 July and will be fully online.
The conference is brought to you by the Center for Technology and Society at Fundação Getulio Vargas (CTS-FGV) and the main theme of the 2021 edition will be Data Protection in Latin America: Democracy, Innovation and Regulation. Here the full programme https://cpdp.lat/pt-br/programa/ that was elaborated thanks to an excellent team https://cpdp.lat/en/about-us/
We will have 30 sessions, 3 plenary sessions, and 170+ speakers from 34 countries. Speakers will analyse a wide range of data protection issues (including the regulation of international data transfers, new data protection laws and authorities in the region, smart cities, AI an algorithmic discrimination, digital sovereignty, fintech, legaltech, etc.).
The plenary sessions will be live streamed and will have simultaneous translation. Here you can find the link to the live streaming of the plenary sessions in EN, PT and ES https://cpdp.lat/plenarias/
We will start releasing the recordings of the other sessions on 1st August, to commemorate the entry in force of the last sections (regarding sanctions) of the new Brazilian Data Protection Law (LGPD, in its Portuguese acronym) that are not in force yet.
If you have any queries about the conference (including how to receive a sponsored ticket for journalists or students), you can send an email to contact at cpdp.lat
If you use Twitter, you can receive updates about the conference (and data protection in Latam, more generally) following the CPDP Latam twitter account https://twitter.com/CpdpLatam and checking the #CPDPlatam hashtag.
You might also be interested in checking the CPDP Latam 2021 publications, resulting from our first call for papers on Data Protection in Times of Social Emergency: COVID-19, Democracy, Innovation and Regulation in Latin America. https://cpdp.lat/en/publications/
Please feel free to share this message through your networks.
 Best regards
 Luca
