Hi All

So sorry to hear about Ian Peter’s passing. As Arsène said Ian was able to rise above the fray when the IGC was almost falling apart and bring everyone together. That was no small feat!! He was a really great person and was able to bring people and the IGC to a better place and one where it could continue to grow. Indeed a giant in his time. May his memory be for a blessing.

We acknowledge the contributions you made whilst you were a co-cordinator for the Internet Governance Caucus (IGC) and you were instrumental in the establishment of various quasi committees with the view of enhancing collaboration. You had clear and strong views and whilst we may not have agreed on certain things, you were a giant in your contributions and your no-nonsense approach to leadership, consensus building.

>> My dear friends and colleagues - our friend, collaborator and mentor Ian Peter passed away peacefully last night. His wife, Sue, was with him as she had been these past few weeks. Ian reached out to Paul Wilson and me three weeks ago, telling us that he has but a few weeks left in him. Paul got to speak to him Friday week ago and Ian and I via emails and messages Sue shared with him. She described Ian as a man who was led by love, and the past few weeks he did just that. But he did ask at that time that we not share his condition widely. Today, however, Sue asked that I share this sad news with you. Ian Peter was my friend.

>> Ian Peter in the centre, Southeast Forest Rally, Canberra, 1989 (?) and I with a cap on sat just behind him. The words "email", "electronic networks", "earthnet" I'd heard in passing. I knew that moment that this was Ian Peter who some weeks ago I'd sent my first email to. Some months later Pegasus Networks was launched. A year later I moved to Byron Bay to work with Ian... and here we are.
