[Governance] Launching the new humAInism Speech Generator

Dear all,

About a year ago Diplo launched the HumAInism project, an umbrella for
several activities related to our work on artificial intelligence. We came
to the conclusion that, in order to discuss AI in depth, it is very
important to demystify it and understand what happens under the bonnet.
With this idea in mind, our Speech Generator was born. It combines
technical knowledge on AI and policy expertise focused (for the moment) on
the field of cybersecurity.

I hope that you take the chance to explore this interesting tool. The
project is in constant evolution, so our feedback is very valuable to us.

The tool provides users with a comparison of the official positions of
major actors. It also generates answers to cybersecurity-related questions
posed by the user.

*What’s underneath the bonnet*

Unlike huge state-of-the-art algorithms (such as GPT3) which represent
black boxes, Diplo’s approach is to recreate the human process of thinking
in speech generation, and mimic it with a group of various algorithms
supported with human expertise. The result is a system of algorithms
interconnected with human knowledge, which provides users with fully
explainable answers.

*Anchoring AI into core values*
The tool aims to provide a meeting point between human expertise and AI.
The next phase, in fact, will use human expertise for training various
algorithms, such as text classification, sentiment analysis, and
recommendation system.
At the core of this new tool is an experiment to anchor AI into our core
values. It is by understanding how AI functions and by combining it with
human intelligence, that we can prepare ourselves as a society - as
humanity - for what’s to come.
