PRESS RELEASE : ACSIS CALLS FOR MORE INCLUSION AND MULTILINGUALISM AT WSIS
FORUM
Throughout the framework of WSIS Forum held in Geneva from 12th to 16th
June, 2017, The Chairman of African Civil Society on the Information
Society (ACSIS) Dr. Cissé Kane launched , a solemn appeal to the
international community to support the WSIS Forum secretariat. Dr. Kane
welcomed the unique framework of the WSIS Forum, which allows greater
interaction between all actors in the ICT sector. This is essential in our
present and future, given the centrality of ICTs in our lives and the
necessity to link ICT with sustainable development goals. Dr. Kane saluted
the remarkable work of the secretariat of the Forum. However, he felt that
this secretariat did not have the means to ensure the necessary inclusion
and participation. He solemnly called on all actors, including the private
sector, to further support the WSIS Forum by providing it with sufficient
resources to strengthen its inclusiveness and enhance its resonance. This
support will include:
1. Translate the entire website of the WSIS FORUM at least in all United
Nations official languages ​of the
2. Ensure that all sessions of the WSIS FORUM are interpreted in UN
official languages ​
3. Translate all WSIS Forum programs into all United Nations official
languages
4. Provide a significant number of scholarships (at least 20 per continent)
each year to enable the most deserving members of the civil society and
academic sector to travel to Geneva and
participate in the WSIS Forum
5. Provide the opportunity to supplement the governmental delegations
participating in the WSIS Forum by some deserving members of the Civil
Society and the Academic Sector.

COMMUNIQUE DE PRESSE : ACSIS APPELLE A PLUS D'INCLUSION ET DE
MULTILINGUISME AU WSIS FORUM.


Dans le cadre du Forum du SMSI, tenu à Genève, du 12 au 16 Juin, 2017, le
Président de la Société Civile Africaine sur la Société de l’Information
(ACSIS) Dr. Cissé Kane a lancé à Genève un appel solennel à la communauté
Internationale pour soutenir le secrétariat du Forum du SMSI. Le Dr. Kane
s’est félicité de de l’existence de ce cadre unique qu’est le Forum du SMSI
qui permet la plus grande interaction entre tous les acteurs du secteur. Ce
qui est essentiel dans notre présent et pour notre futur, compte tenu de la
place centrale des TIC dans nos vies. Le Dr. Kane a salué le travail
remarquable du secrétariat du Forum du SMSI. Il a estimé cependant que ce
secrétariat n’avait pas les moyens d’assurer l’inclusion et la
participation nécessaires. Il a appelé solennellement tous les acteurs,
notamment le secteur privé pour qu’ils soutiennent davantage le forum du
SMSI en lui dotant de moyens suffisants pour renforcer son caractère
inclusif et en accroissant sa résonnance.
Ce soutien sollicité permettra notamment de :
1. Traduire tout le site Internet du WSIS FORUM au moins dans toutes les
langues officielles des Nations Unies
2. Veiller à ce que toutes les sessions du WSIS FORUM bénéficient
d’interprétation dans toutes les langues officielles des Nations Unies
3. Traduire tous les programmes du Forum du SMSI dans toutes les langues
des Nations Unies
4. Offrir un nombre de bourses conséquentes (au moins 20 par continent)
chaque année afin de permettre aux membres de la Société Civile et du
secteur académique les plus méritants de faire le voyage de Genève et de
participer au Forum du SMSI
5. Prévoir l’opportunité de compléter les délégations gouvernementales
participant au Forum du SMSIS, par quelques membres méritants de la Société
Civile et du secteur académique.
