Yes, there is a reason why it is best practice to have that information on the subject line, and the unsubscribe option and archives link at the signature of a mailing list message as well as access to your settings to set up weekly summaries or individual emails.

I offered help to Arsène but not sure how and what is really needed to overcome the existing problems without boring to death the community and getting a bunch of people to unsubscribe. 

Hoping the technical problems can be solved soon... rather prefer to be reading your contributions and reviews than discussing how a mailing list work ;)
