[governance] Nominations for new Co-coordinator

For better or worse, English has become the lingua franca of international business and political affairs and I think we know that this is particularly true for Internet policy. This means people like me, who are native English speakers, have an advantage over those who aren’t native English speakers. I am grateful for this advantage but I do understand that it is an accident of birth and I try to always remain sensitive to others.

Perhaps at some point human educational priorities will advance to the point where everyone is bilingual from their earliest years in their local native tongue and some other tongue we all share in common. Until then, we will all have to get by.

I am not an English native and sometimes feel disadvantaged to English native persons, but I still believe that most effective way of reaching mutual understanding among our global caucus members is using English as much as possible, whether we like it or not.
