Dear Analia and IGC colleagues,
As most of you know, I am considering a slot in the MAG 2016 following the call by the Secretariat. Few weeks ago, I posted here my description and received some feedbacks, thank you so much for those who wrote back.
Now, following Ginger's call for IGC endorsements before Feb 25, I am writing to request your support as a civil society representative. I have the time and energy to put on this new task.
I just submitted my application and please see bellow my short description as sent to the IGF Secretariat. Should you need a much longer version, please email me offlist and I will be glad to discuss this.
Do not hesitate to reach out to me if you have any question or need clarifications. Looking forward to the support from all of you.
Best regards,A
IGF MAG 2016 Description:
Arsene Tungali, 26, from theDemocratic Republic of Congo, a blogger and activist. I speak fluently Kiswahili,French and English, interested in a slot in the MAG 2016.
I feel that there is an underrepresentation among Civil Society members for the Francophone Africancountries and hope to add my voice to those advocating for the underrepresentedfrom these African countries and in that way promote a more multilingual IG. Iam a strong advocate for remote participation; also advocate for increasing theyouth participation at the IGF and for including more sessions on child onlineprotection and women’s involvement in ICT, which continues to be a barrier inmany African countries. I strongly believe the Internet is for everyone and weneed to make sure everyone has the ability to participate.
I am familiar with the IGF, tookDiplo Foundation IG courses and play an active role in the Central African IGFand the African IGF. I also attended and contributed to the IGF USA in 2015. Iam an active member of the newly created dynamic working to host the first IGFin the DRC. I attended the IGF 2015 as an ISOC Ambassador, reported somesessions and blogged about my experience in Diplo’s daily newsletter during theForum. I contribute to various IG lists and working groups such as with theInternet Governance Caucus, the Youth Coalition on Internet Governance andfollow discussions on other lists.
I am an active ICANN fellow. I amthe Executive of Rudi International, the only youth-led Congolese non-profitworking on child online protection and women’s participation in ICT issues.Since 2012, my organization has convened the annual ITU’s Girls in ICT dayevents and is a member organization that is part of their Child OnlineProtection (COP) initiative across Africa. ------------------------------------------------------
