With reference to openings for representatives of civil society to the Multistakeholder Advisory Group to the Internet Governance Forum 2016, the listed Directors of the Caribbean Conservation Association (CCA) endorse the nomination of Deirdre Williams of St. Lucia to the Multistakeholder Advisory Group (MAG) for the 2016 Internet Governance Forum.

Ms. Williams combines over eight years of intensive involvement with Internet Governance issues on behalf of Caribbean civil society with a breadth of contacts and insight into the special needs of Caribbean society for access and exercise of fundamental Internet rights and principles. Seeking to stimulate greater awareness among Caribbean small island constituencies, she has attended and reported back on every IGF meeting since Hyderabad in 2008 (Nairobi 2011 virtually), and also all of the regional - Latin America and Caribbean Preparatory Meeting for the IGF (LACIGF), and sub-regional – Caribbean IGF, since 2009. (She has raised the funds to support her travel on these events herself.)

As promoters of the efficient use of knowledge and internet knowledge management technologies for sustainable environmental resource use, we, the directors of the Caribbean Conservation Association feel confident that Ms. Williams experience and insights applied to the Internet Governance Forum process will improve Caribbean and small island access to these vital 21st century technologies, for civil society groups throughout the global small island community and for Caribbean people specifically.
