I wouldn’t put a great deal of weight on IBM predictions. Some of their best past predictions include that the world would only ever need 13 computers, and that USA users would never use mobile phones for texting, information services etc because this was a peculiar Japanese fetish that would never take off in the west.
I think the prediction of the end of the digital divide ranks with these other two examples.
