Here is the number of participants by stakeholder groups, taken from
the closing speech by UN DESA.
Total - 1630
government - 429
technical - 161
private sector - 266
civil society - 541
international organizations - 96
media - 123
(this totals 1616, not 1630), but my note might be inaccurate.
He did not disclose regional breakdown.
I see few participation from Asia Pacific, Africa, and Latin and South
America, as an impression, especially, on the
speakers/panelists/moderators level.
Geographic position of Azerbaijan may be one factor, but also lack of
financial resources be another.
