Dear Lee,
the pity is that the "third Way" model is quite simple: it is the one 
described by RFCs and supported but NOT implemented by ICANN 
(http://www.icann.org/en/about/unique-authoritative-root). However, I 
acknowledge that the List of Content I maintain: 
http://iutf.org/wiki/Domain_Name_System_-_RFCs is somewhat ill 
presented is somewhat awkward to read.
