There are various privacy enhancing techniques which could anonymise
much of your traffic to search engines, but ultimately if you use such
services, the proprietors will know what you've looked at, just as
Blockbuster has a list of the movies you've rented, Air France knows
about every flight you took with them, and Vodafone knows about every
call you made or received [company names chosen for global recognition
purposes only].
Most privacy concerns in the past have been about the extent to which
such information has been made available to law enforcement authorities,
rather than what they might do with it themselves outside of the strict
necessity of providing the service.
