As a proponent of a TLD that will advance the social, economic, and
civic future of New York, I'm seeking a consensus approval for one of
the following:
* .newyork
* .new-york
* .nyc
* .newyorkcity
* .new-your-city
There are advantages to each, and ".lincoln" issues will fit into the
decision, as do city and state cooperation. (For those outside the
region, the state of New York is the ruling entity that grants the city
of New York a measure of home rule. In matters of taxation for example,
the city must get the state's OK to raise them. So .newyork would seem
to be state leaning while .newyorkcity city. But they've not yet spoken
about the issue. However, I was assured yesterday that they will have an
application in on January 12, and will get busy soon selecting a
contractor to assist with its preparation.)
Best,
Tom Lowenhaupt
