This bit of totalizing reductionism is based on what, the Cliff Notes Guide to Marxism?   Read inter alia EP Thompson's Poverty of Theory and the debates between him, Perry Anderson and Louis Althusser.  The agent-structure problem is widely recognized in Marxist theory to be a wee bit more complex.  This whole debate is fetishing a false binary.
