You should at least read their papers. For instance "The Design
Principles of PlanetLab" by Larry Peterson (Princeton University) and
Timothy Roscoe (Intel Research Berkeley) says:

> architectural features of PlanetLab have always been designed with a
> view to their eventual replacement.
