[governance] Elections for coordinators

Hi,

Well the time for nominations is long over and we have two nominees
for two positions Vittorio and Parminder - info at http://
www.igcaucus.org/IGC-candidates-2006.html

There were a couple of private nominations made, but I checked with
each of those nominated privately, and they declined. If anyone
feels they were nominated of self-nominated and I missed it, please
let me know immediately.

We have two options for the election, as I mentioned before.

1. (my current inclination) Hold one vote and the person who gets
the most votes wins the two year terms with the other getting the one
year term.

2. A suggestion was made during the face to face get together during
the IGF meeting, that two votes should be held. During the first
vote, the person with the most votes gets the two year term. Under
this suggestion nominations for the second slot remain open until
after the first vote is completed. At that point the person who got
the least votes in the first ballot and anyone yet to be nominated
would stand a vote with the person getting the most votes be the
coordinator with a one year term.

If anyone on this list has a preference, please send a message
picking an option. If no one speaks up, I will go with option 1. On
the other hand if people speak up, I will go with whichever option
has the largest voice. I will probably start the vote (or the first
vote) by midweek. I will announce which option we are using at that
time.

thanks

a.

ps. Still looking for a volunteer to chair the nomcom to pick the
appeals team - for this caucus to work according to the charter, we
do need volunteers to take on the tasks.
