15 May 2019 | 10:46 CET | News
Altan Redes, the consortium developing Mexico’s 4G shared network (Red
Compartida
<https://www.telecompaper.com/news/mexicos-red-compartida-on-track-to-cover-50-of-population-this-year--1284467>),
has signed an agreement to access Tutela’s data on the country’s mobile
market. The data collected from millions of mobile devices will be used to
compare the performance of the network and improve its overall quality,
said Tutela, adding that Altan will have access to its Tutela Explorer data
analysis platform. The tool will enable the wholesale provider to visualise
and analyse some 500 million lines of data on Mexican networks
simultaneously at any time of the day, including the intensity and quality
of the signal, device use and download speed patterns.
The first phase of Red Compartida was activated on the on the 700MHz band
in March 2018 and covered around 32 percent of the country’s population,
with the network due to reach around half of the country’s population by
the end of this year and 92 percent by 2024.
