Hello,

I wanted to share two fixed term opportunities at PI which we have just published.

1) Policy Officer – Maternity Leave Cover (1 year), deadline for application is Sunday, 1 July 2018
The role of the Policy Officer is to develop and implement Privacy International's (PI) policy strategies. The Policy Officer will primarily focus on the nexus between privacy and security through the exploration of the intersection of technology and rights. Working with the Advocacy & Policy team and relevant members of programme teams, the Officer will develop PI's policy strategies, build relationships with key national and international decision makers and influencers, monitor relevant policy and debates while identifying opportunities to shape policies, and support the advocacy work of PI's strategic programmes and the work undertaken by the Privacy International Network.

In particular, this role will focus on providing support and capacity development to multi-year and multi-partner projects falling under PI’s Global programme which consists of engaging with Civil Society Organisations and experts across the world through an innovative approach that sustains an international privacy movement while supporting complementary socio-economic and civic struggles at the national level.

2) Legal Officer – Maternity Leave Cover (1 year), deadline for application is Sunday, 24 June 2018
The role of the Legal Officer is to devise, implement and manage legal advocacy and litigation designed to achieve PI's policy and advocacy objectives. As a member of the Legal Team, the Legal Officer will help execute PI's strategy across its three programmatic areas of Data Exploitation, Privacy in the Global South and State Surveillance. This will include bringing cases against governments and companies, intervening in actions in domestic and regional courts, and advocating before regulatory bodies. The Legal Officer will be expected to understand and work within a variety of local, national and international jurisdictions, including those governed by civil law or common law.

The Legal Officer will also contribute to PI's policy development and advocacy initiatives, from policy advocacy in national venues to international advocacy in civil liberties and human rights fora. To that end, the Legal Officer will work with the advocacy, policy and communications teams to formulate creative ways to use legal avenues and arguments to achieve policy and advocacy goals. The Legal Officer will also liaise with PI’s international partners.

Only applicants with the right to work in the UK will be considered. More details about these opportunities are available on our website - https://www.privacyinternational.org/type-resource/opportunities <https://www.privacyinternational.org/type-resource/opportunities>
Apologies for cross posting and thank you for the help in sharing these opportunities with your own networks.

Best,

Alex
