other things, we discussed his activism in protecting local rainforest <br>
and those early networks to share information with the wider community.<br>

Ian was a kind, compassionate person with a towering intellect and a <br>
strong belief in social justice. He will be sorely missed.<br>
<br>
His hard work in Internet governance and for 'the last billion' is to be <br>
celebrated.<br>
