What sad news!<br>

Ian was one of the pioneers that actually *did something* to spread
the Internet worldwide back in the day, when others were just
talking about it. His continued work on Internet Governance was key
to promote civil society at the table of the multistakeholder model.
He held strong views and there were times when we absolutely
disagreed but his passing is a great loss to our community and his
wisdom and gravitas will be missed.<br>

and mentor Ian Peter passed away peacefully last
night. His wife, Sue, was with him as she had been
these past few weeks. Ian reached out to Paul Wilson
and me three weeks ago, telling us that he has but a
few weeks left in him. Paul got to speak to him Friday
week ago and Ian and I via emails and messages Sue
shared with him. She described Ian as a man who was
led by love, and the past few weeks he did just that.
But he did ask at that time that we not share his
condition widely. Today, however, Sue asked that I
share this sad news with you. Ian Peter was my friend.</div>

heard in passing. I knew that moment that this was Ian
Peter who some weeks ago I'd sent my first email to.
Some months later Pegasus Networks was launched. A
year later I moved to Byron Bay to work with Ian...
and here we are.</div>
