All the discussions should happen on this mailing list. ( just to remind you that they have been indeed taking place on the mailing list. Those who turned up for the meetings didn't make decisions. Bruna reverted to the list and informed the group about action items to be discussed. the discussions have not been undertaken in a small group, they took place on this mailing list and we shared the recorded meetings on the list as well).

2. Charter review:No one has decided single-handedly to review the charter. as Ian, Sala, and others rightly pointed out, we should discuss reviewing the IGC charter and measure whether the consensus over the need to revise it and what should be revised. Nothing has been decided yet. Revising the charter has to follow IGC charter amendment procedure which is in the charter.

3. There seems to be some disagreement as to when and how we should do IGC elections. Some don't want an interim group, some don't want an election yet and some want an election to happen ASAP. Lets discuss this collegially. I can create a new thread to discuss the elections.

4. As to BestBits closure, it is true that it was Bestbits decision. However, now that the closure is being finalized on BestBits, there were some concerns about how to safeguard that past couple of years materials and valuable documents that have been posted on Bestbits website. One way would be to bring those materials to IGC website under a Bestbits history page. This needs to be discussed with IGC members. Another would be to archive the website and keep it. But Jeremy does not (rightly so) want to keep administering Bestbits website and no one else is volunteering. If someone from Bestbits wants to volunteer to preserve the documents/website etc, then I believe we don't have to discuss it at IGC.

I hope this is helpful. supported by others, that the IGC charter is unequivocal that

request to know when is the planned day zero meeting and asking
to ensure there is no overlap with JNC meeting in the afternoon

Now, it seems that some discussion is happening for many months
about review of IGC charter.. No one really know why, how, or such
about this. Not one word, justification, etc have ever been
advanced on this list, much less put that to discussion, on what
the charter says as the primary workplace of the IGC.

Who is proposing such amendment, and why? What are the triggers,
reasons, justifications......!!???? Is this too much to ask...

I have not followed this discussion of this small group, which
shows up off and on, but always remains very unclear about what
exactly is happening. But in between I read somewhere, someone
talking about amending the charter, and another saying the charter
may be saying this, the original person pressing for the amendment
saying, ok, but where is the charter, I havent seen it !!!????
People want to amend the charter without having seen it... What is
happening here.

I do not want to bring up issues about how submissions have been
made on the behalf of IGC, without following any kind of due
procedure, and when the charter is absolutely clear as well as
insistent about the due process, and so on, many things....
