Likewise I support all 3. <br>

I specifically support at this stage enabling IGC to solicit/receive presumably small/crowdsourced donations to fund the merged Internet operations, whether funds are received by credit card or Paypal.

Once votes/rough consensus in favor of the 3 are received - seeing as I have seen no objection; this raises another question.<br>
<br>
The Next Question: if the proposition then is to prepare for IGC to receive funds; is it to operate independently of cpsr and apc, which I am not specifically endorsing or opposing right now, or as a small project of cpsr and/or apc? With or without overhead?
If we are talking independence and $, wouldn't IGC have to then be operating as a 501 (C)3 non-profit under US law (gasp, even - California law? ; ). Or, more politically correct, operate under similar basis of some other nation's laws. If we continue to operate
basically as a low-budget project of CPSR and/or APC, and/or both as at present, this is not a problem; but if we go independent; then yeah we need to call in the lawyers right. After more debate on under which nation's laws to register as a non-profit.<br>

Of course then the funds needed to be raised would be well north of $500. <br>
<br>
While I was hesitant to back similar efforts to institutionalize things years back, by now IGC has shown enough longevity/staying power, and Internet Governance issues don;t go away, nor does need for civil society's engagement, so I am fine with us entering
into this discussion.<br>

But it's then a discussion about much more than who hosts the website and listserv.<br>
<br>
Of course I am happy to be told to shut up and put this broader discussion back on the shelf for another day and another year.<br>

Sala, I believe that this is your first "work" message as co-coordinator to the list, again congratulations! And thank you for making the clear proposal/summary.

<div>Just to explain a little more. Until now, Jeremy has kindly extended his work</div>
<div>after stepping down from the co-coordinator around the web management.</div>
<div>He also worked very hard to streamline the web site management and </div>
<div>improved it vastly as we all know.</div>

<div>In order to further strengthen and stabilize our web operation, he suggested</div>
<div>that we consider the merging of the web and mailing list servers, and also</div>
<div>move it to a stable, commercial hosting. He will kindly offer his service</div>
<div>for the transition work, too.</div>

<div>So, we, co-coordinators discussed about this, and concluded that it's time</div>
<div>to start migration, with proper fund-raising. I believe $150 is also annual</div>
<div>cost for the server, thus $500 for 3 years. Jeremy, correct me if I am wrong.</div>

<div>For the fund, we welcome both small payment as well as big (?) money.</div>
<div>I mean if you could pledge say $50 per person, that will be highly appreciated.</div>
