We often talk of the need to carry the best practices of our
IG/IGF-based experiences to other processes. Last week, Diplo hosted
the annual meeting of directors of diplomatic academies in Malta,
attended by participants from 52 countries. Marilia Maciel, of the
IGF remote participation working group, delivered an excellent
IGF-inspired presentation on remote participation and social
networking as new diplomatic tools. The event had several sessions
on e-diplomacy and ways to train future diplomats and diplomatists
(others involved in international affairs). Some of the
IG/IGF-developed practices could be very useful for other policy
processes.

The latest from Diplo...

http://DISCUSS.diplomacy.edu is a space for discussing ideas and
concepts from Diplo’s teaching and research activities. Our
activities focus on three main areas: Internet governance,
diplomacy, and global governance. In September, we DISCUSS: a)
network neutrality: hype and reality, b) the IGF experience: what
can policy makers learn from the IGF, and c) the history of the
Internet. Let us know if you have suggestions about ideas and
concepts that should be discussed.
