Sharm-El-Sheikh is approaching fast. Some of us will travel there. Others will
not. But <b style="">staying in your home city does
not mean that it is not possible to follow the debates. </b>There will be
channels for remote participation. People can follow the discussions from home,
watching the webcast of the event and participating in chat. But it is also
possible to organize <b style="">IGF hubs</b>. </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="" lang="EN-US"> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><b style=""><span style="" lang="EN-US">What are the Hubs?</span></b></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="" lang="EN-US">The hubs
are local meetings that take place in parallel with the IGF. People can watch
the webcast together and send questions (text or video) that will be answered
by panelists in the IGF (in main sessions and workshops). In addition to that,
organizers can hold debates to discuss the themes of the IGF from a local
perspective. This way, the hub gains its own dynamics, and the webcast serves a
starting point for a meaningful local debates. There are <b style="">several advantages in creating a hub</b>: it helps to raise awareness
about IG issues, it fosters networking among participants and community building
and it encourages follow-up activities.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="" lang="EN-US"> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><b style=""><span style="" lang="EN-US">The deadline to register a hub is 22 October.</span></b></p>

hub organizers will be provided in late October.</span></p>

are very simple:</span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style=""><span style="" lang="EN-US">A four day activity, on flexible
hours.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style=""><span style="" lang="EN-US">A room or auditorium. It can be held
at a university class or any other convenient</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style=""><span style="" lang="EN-US">place in the city</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style=""><span style="" lang="EN-US">A broadband Internet connection and
a video-conference (or projector) equipment.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style=""><span style="" lang="EN-US">A server</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style=""><span style="" lang="EN-US">A moderator, who will plan the
dynamics of the discussion</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style=""><span style="" lang="EN-US">A general call in lists, forums,
etc, to invite the interested local community in</span></p>

Society and Internet Governance</span></p>
