Some points that will need to be discussed/decided in the noncom and
for which inputs from IGC members would be most welcome:<br>
<br>
a. how do we encourage nominations - both from IGC and CS outside IGC,
so that we have a broader representation of CS, including being able to
have candidates from groups/regions traditionally less represented. <br>
<br>
b. how many candidates/range should the noncom provide on behalf of IGC<br>
<br>
c. Other than the criteria of '</font><span>advocating and pushing the
wider CS positions, and IGC’s positions</span>', what are the
parameters that noncom should consider (I hope Carlos will share some
of the ideas/parameters that LA&C used in their recent processes,
though I am aware that was a direct voting process. Carlos can you also
share some virtual caipirinhyas for helping ideas bubble forth more
easily ;-) ) - should they include:<br>
<br>
i. some kind of prior background/experience in IG including extent of
participation in IG processes, <br>
ii. equitable participation by region, gender<br>
iii. significant role being played in IG but not part of current IG
structures/processes (for e.g. creative commons kind of work which is
connected to a 'public information' domain on the internet' and the
rules for such domain creation and strengthening<br>
<br>
While there have been comments on some of these aspects, i request
members to actively share their thoughts to give a feel of thinking to
the noncom. Also in sharing names/candidatures of people who you
think noncom should consider <br>

the person’s consent to be on the MAG if selected, and to seek IGC’s

mention with some clarity the activities and/ or positions taken by the
person in the IG and information society arena. </span> </li>

nominated person will be a good CS/ IGC representative on the MAG. </span>

<li> <span>Those who are already on the MAG may also briefly
mention about how they carried out their responsibilities in the last
two terms, in advocating and pushing the wider CS positions, and IGC’s
positions. Their level and manner of engagement with the IGC, and the
wider CS constituencies, may also be mentioned. </span> </li>
</ol>
<p> <span>Nominations should also include an
assurance that if selected for the MAG one will keep up a strong
engagement with
CS constituencies, including and especially the IGC. One will both keep
CS constituencies
and the IGC informed about the MAG proceedings and related matters, as
well as
present/ push their positions in the MAG. </span> </p>
<p> <span>The above is abstracted from some discussions
that took place on this list a few days back. Any comments on these may
be
given by tomorrow, before the nominations begin to be accepted. </span>
