There was just a sort news report on BBC radio about what is
happening with WSIS. Their account was misleading to say the least.

They said that the US set up ICANN in the early days of the Internet.

1998 was not by any means the early days of the Internet. The Internet
research began in 1973 and by the early 1990's many nations were
connecting.

Then their report said that there were critics saying that the issue
of domain names and ICANN was not really an issue, but the Internet
for development purposes was the real issue.

So instead of explaining the issue and the contention around it, they
basically trivialized it.

Sad to see such reporting as what is happening at WSIS is important
and it would help if the public was kept informed of what is happening.

It is good that BBC finally recognized it is important to report on
the WSIS developmetns. It would help if they gave it serious attention.
