<div dir="ltr"><div>Dear all,<br></div><div><br></div><div>Just over a week ago, MPAA, PhRMA, and RIAA launched a new platform to lobby NAFTA: "Action For Trade" is called (<a href="http://actionfortrade.org/">http://actionfortrade.org/</a>). </div><div><br></div><div>This is bad news. Some reports (ia, <a href="https://www.wsj.com/articles/u-s-floats-nafta-proposal-that-could-erode-copyright-liability-protection-1506460138">WSJ</a>, <a href="https://insidetrade.com/daily-news/sources-nafta-ip-chapter-suggests-ustr-could-favor-content-industry-approach">Inside US trade 1</a>, <a href="https://insidetrade.com/daily-news/hatch-us-rights-holders-back-exclusion-fair-use-reference-nafta">Inside US trade 2</a>) already indicate that NAFTA is increasingly looking like ACTA regarding IP and internet issues.</div><div><br></div><div>So, with Action For Trade we have further bad news. The copyright lobby is trying to turn NAFTA into ACTA (nAfCTA?).</div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><div><div><div><div class="gmail-m_-3831087694646709056gmail_signature"><div><div><div>----<br><table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="3" style="width:45pt;height:45pt;table-layout:fixed;color:rgb(197,194,197)"><tbody><tr style="line-height:0.5em"><td style="background-color:rgb(197,194,197);text-align:center;width:16px;height:15px">#</td><td style="background-color:rgb(197,194,197);text-align:center;width:16px;height:15px">#</td><td style="background-color:rgb(197,194,197);text-align:center;width:16px;height:15px">#</td></tr><tr style="line-height:0.5em"><td style="background-color:rgb(197,194,197);text-align:center;width:16px;height:15px">#</td><td style="color:rgb(223,52,28);text-align:center;width:16px;height:15px;background-color:rgb(223,52,28);border-radius:50%">•</td><td style="background-color:rgb(197,194,197);text-align:center;width:16px;height:15px">#</td></tr><tr style="line-height:0.5em"><td style="background-color:rgb(197,194,197);text-align:center;width:16px;height:15px">#</td><td style="background-color:rgb(197,194,197);text-align:center;width:16px;height:15px">#</td><td style="background-color:rgb(197,194,197);text-align:center;width:16px;height:15px"><br></td></tr></tbody></table><div style="margin-bottom:1em"><div><b><br>Gus Rossi</b></div><div>Global Policy Director <a href="tel:(202)%20861-0020" value="+12028610020" style="font-size:12.8px;color:rgb(17,85,204)" target="_blank">(202) 861-0020</a><span style="font-size:12.8px"> (x123) | </span><a href="tel:(202)%651-1337" value="+12025249576" style="font-size:12.8px;color:rgb(17,85,204)" target="_blank">(202) 651 1337</a> <span style="font-size:12.8px">(mobile) | </span><a href="https://twitter.com/agustinrs" style="font-size:12.8px;color:rgb(17,85,204);text-decoration:none" target="_blank">@agustinrs</a><b><br></b></div></div><div><b><font color="#ff0000">Public Knowledge</font></b> | <a href="https://twitter.com/publicknowledge" style="color:rgb(17,85,204);text-decoration:none" target="_blank">@publicknowledge</a> |<wbr> <a href="http://www.publicknowledge.org/" style="color:rgb(17,85,204);text-decoration:none" target="_blank">www.publicknowledge.org</a> <br>1818 N St. NW, Suite 410 | Washington, DC 20036 | CFC 12259</div><div><br></div><div><div><b>The IP3 Awards are September 28th!</b> RSVP at <a href="http://publicknowledge.org/IP32017" target="_blank">publicknowledge.org/IP32017</a>.</div></div><div><br></div></div></div></div></div></div>
