Innovation and technological change are hallmarks of modern life. Aviation and telecommunications enable people and ideas to cross borders rapidly. Over the course of the last century, governments and other stakeholders developed procedures to manage the flow of these international contacts. Now innovations in aviation and in the reach of the Internet expose gaps in two very different long-standing international arrangements. This year policymakers and shapers will make important choices in these areas. In the <strong>2015 Shapiro Lecture</strong>, Professor Brimmer will highlight ways in which new technologies stretch two global governance regimes and suggest steps to bridge the gaps. The event will be webcast live on the <strong><a style="text-decoration:underline;color:#2585b2" href="https://new.livestream.com/internetsociety/overheadandonline">Internet Society Livestream</a></strong> channel.</p><p style="direction:ltr;font-size:14px;line-height:1.4em;color:#444444;font-family:'Helvetica Neue',Helvetica,Arial,sans-serif;margin:0px 0px 1em"><strong>What: <a style="text-decoration:underline;color:#2585b2" href="http://elliott.gwu.edu/events-calendar?trumbaEmbed=view%3Devent%26eventid%3D113773489">Overhead and Online: Technological Change and Gaps in Global Governance</a><br> Where: Elliott School of International Affairs, George Washington University, Washington DC<br> When: Monday 23 February 2015 6pm-7:30pm EST | 23:00-00:30 UTC<br> Webcast: <a style="text-decoration:underline;color:#2585b2" href="https://new.livestream.com/internetsociety/overheadandonline">https://new.livestream.com/internetsociety/overheadandonline</a><br> Twitter: <a style="text-decoration:underline;color:#2585b2" href="https://twitter.com/search?f=realtime&q=iiepgw&src=typd">@iiepgw</a></strong></p></div><p style="direction:ltr;line-height:1.4em;font-family:'Helvetica Neue',Helvetica,Arial,sans-serif;margin:0px;font-size:14px;color:#666666;padding:1em 0px 0em;width:auto"> </p><table style="width:auto" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0"><tbody><tr><td style="width:10px"><a style="border-radius:10em;border:1px solid #11729e;text-decoration:none;color:#ffffff;padding:5px 15px;font-size:16px;line-height:1.4em;font-family:'Helvetica Neue',Helvetica,Arial,sans-serif;font-weight:normal;margin-left:0px;white-space:nowrap;background-color:#2585b2" href="http://isoc-ny.org/p2/7566#respond">Comment</a></td><td> <a style="color:#2585b2;text-decoration:underline" href="http://isoc-ny.org/p2/7566#comments">See all comments</a></td></tr></tbody></table><p> </p></td></tr></tbody></table></td></tr></tbody></table><table style="width:100%;text-align:left;border-top-width:1px;border-top-style:solid;border-top-color:#dddddd;background-color:#efefef" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="20" bgcolor="#efefef"><tbody><tr><td style="border-top-width:1px;border-top-style:solid;border-top-color:#f3f3f3;font-family:'Helvetica Neue',Helvetica,Arial,sans-serif;font-size:14px;background:#efefef"><p style="color:#444444;direction:ltr;font-family:'Helvetica Neue',Helvetica,Arial,sans-serif;font-size:12px;line-height:1.4em;margin:0px 0px 10px"> </p><div class="gmail_default" style="font-size:small;display:inline"><strong><font color="#000000">Permalink</font></strong></div><br> <a style="color:#2585b2;text-decoration:underline" href="http://isoc-ny.org/p2/7566">http://isoc-ny.org/p2/7566<br></a><p style="color:#888888"> </p></td></tr></tbody></table></td></tr></tbody></table></div></td></tr></tbody></table></td></tr></tbody></table></div></div></div><br clear="all"></div><div><br></div>-- <br><div class="gmail_signature">---------------------------------------------------------------<br><span>Joly MacFie <span id="gc-number-37" class="gc-cs-link" title="Call with Google Voice">218 565 9365</span> Skype:punkcast</span><br>WWWhatsup NYC - <a href="http://wwwhatsup.com" target="_blank">http://wwwhatsup.com</a><br> <a href="http://pinstand.com" target="_blank">http://pinstand.com</a> - <a href="http://punkcast.com" target="_blank">http://punkcast.com</a><br> VP (Admin) - ISOC-NY - <a href="http://isoc-ny.org" target="_blank">http://isoc-ny.org</a><br>--------------------------------------------------------------<br>-</div>
